Impact Testing Machines · Charpy
A Charpy impact testing machine strikes a simply supported, notched specimen with a pendulum and records the energy absorbed in breaking it. The Charpy V-notch test is the standard toughness test for steel plates, pipes, forgings and weld procedures, often carried out at sub-zero temperatures.
We supply analogue, digital and fully automatic Charpy testers, including the IT 30 series and the Auto Impact range, together with cooling chambers, notch broaching machines and Charpy CRM specimens.

It is a pendulum impact test on a specimen with a 2 mm deep, 45 degree V-notch, used to measure the toughness of metals.
Yes. Our IT 30 and Auto Impact machines perform both, using different pendulum positions and specimen supports.
Many steels become brittle at low temperatures. Sub-zero Charpy tests confirm the steel remains tough at its service temperature.
